What I Learned From It

This video didn’t just motivate me it taught me the one thing I was missing: calories control everything. And it doesn’t matter if you’re skinny or overweight once you know your maintenance level, it all becomes basic math. Eat 300–600 calories below maintenance and you’ll lose about half a pound to a full pound each week. Eat 300–600 above maintenance and you’ll steadily gain that same amount. When that clicked for me, everything changed. I didn’t use any apps, I just used the calculator on my phone and added up what I ate.I also gave myself two rest days every week Saturday and Sunday where I could eat as little or as much as I wanted. But Monday through Friday, I stayed locked in and hit the exact calorie target I needed. And yeah, you’ll struggle during the first month while your body adjusts. But that’s the whole point: your body adapts to whatever caloric routine you give it. That’s what we’re amazing at as humans adapting to whatever situation we put ourselves in. Once I understood that and stuck to it, I finally had complete control over my body and where I wanted the scale to go.
